Counseling in Antioch CA

Personalized and trusted counseling for addictions, trauma, relationships and emotions

At Restored Therapy, I understand that life can be overwhelming, and relationships can be challenging. Life is busier than ever, and it’s hard to find a safe space to talk about the hard things. If you're from Brentwood, Antioch, Oakley, Discovery Bay or Tracy in California, and seeking healing from trauma, addictions, or relationship struggles, you’ve come to the right place. Being a CSAT (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist), I bring a compassionate, client-centered approach. I help you gain deep insights into the root causes of your challenges and addictions. Together, we’ll work through emotional barriers, like trauma, poor self-esteem or lack of healthy boundaries, using evidence-based therapies like Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR, to create lasting transformation. Therapy is not just about coping—it's about healing and building a life of peace and fulfillment. Let’s begin your journey toward healing and growth today.

Your Path to Healing Starts Here.

Hi, I’m Brian.

Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a successful musician, performing at the highest level in my field. But life had a different path in store for me. During college, I began therapy to address personal challenges and work on aspects of my life I wanted to change. It wasn’t easy. I faced deep-rooted anxiety, shame, fear, and emotions I didn’t even know existed. When my music career didn’t unfold as I had hoped, I shifted my focus and realized my passion for helping others through therapy. My own transformative experience led me to pursue psychology to better understand how our childhood experiences shape our minds and personalities.

My Approach

Beyond Coping, Towards Healing

I believe that healing is more than just coping with pain; it's about getting to the root causes of our struggles. My approach combines Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to help you heal from trauma, mood disorders, and relationship issues in a lasting way.

Let’s move ahead—together

The Power of Vulnerability

Therapy can be hard. When I first started therapy many years ago, I found it almost impossible to open up for fear of shame. It’s not normal for us to be vulnerable with strangers or someone we just met. It takes time. And it’s a process. I believe that it’s to our detriment that we, especially men, generally do not share deeper parts of ourselves with others because of the fear of appearing weak or broken. I get it. I entered therapy to work through some of my own sexual struggles and along the way, I experienced a sense of freedom, wholeness, and integration with myself and others.

FAQ

  • How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies from person to person. Some clients make great progress and meet their goals in a few sessions, while others uncover deeper issues and choose to continue their therapy over a longer period. Ultimately, the decision is in your hands, and we’ll work together to set the pace.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am not currently on insurance panels. Insurance companies often impose restrictions and require access to your personal information to determine what they will cover. This can limit the therapeutic relationship we build. Instead, I offer a service where I provide you with a receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement once you meet your deductible. This allows us to maintain control over the number of sessions and ensures your privacy is respected.

  • Do you charge more if our session runs overtime?

No, I don’t charge extra if we go over time. While I strive to begin and end sessions on time, if we do happen to go a little over, you won’t be charged an additional fee. The focus is on your healing, not on clock-watching.

  • How often are sessions scheduled?

The most common schedule is once a week, though that’s not a hard and fast rule. Some clients choose every other week due to time or financial constraints, while others opt for twice-weekly sessions to maintain momentum. Therapy is an investment in yourself, and scheduling more frequently can enhance the work we do together.

  • Am I required to commit to a certain number of sessions?

No, there’s no obligation. I recommend scheduling at least three sessions to get a good sense of whether we’re a good fit. If, after a few sessions, you feel that I’m not the right therapist for you, I’d be happy to discuss your concerns and, if needed, refer you to someone else who may better suit your needs.

  • What is the best way to prepare for my first session?

The most important thing to bring to your first session is an open mind and a willingness to explore. You don’t need to have everything figured out—simply come ready to talk about what’s been on your mind or any challenges you're facing. We’ll take it from there and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

  • What should I do if I feel nervous or uncertain about therapy?

It’s completely normal to feel nervous or uncertain, especially if it’s your first time seeking therapy. Know that it’s a safe, non-judgmental space, and you’re in control of the process. If you’re feeling unsure, we can talk about it during our sessions, and I’ll help guide you through your concerns.

  • Can I contact you outside of scheduled sessions?

While I don’t offer 24/7 availability, I am happy to support you between sessions in appropriate ways. If you’re facing an urgent issue or need guidance, you can reach out through email or text, and I will respond during my office hours. I also provide resources and coping strategies that can help between sessions.
